Vacant Sky: Awakening now has a kickstarter!
Let me tell you a little about this game and why I hope maybe some of you will consider supporting it.
On this project I was in charge primarily of character design and helping work out innovative ways of making the gameplay and story mesh together and making field sprites. Oh, and I drew the logo and some of the CGs in the trailer. I’ll be drawing CGs for the game too. I think we have some things you’ll like. Check out the trailer and music samples and our ‘official spiel’ first on the Kickstarter page. Go on, I’ll wait. Okay. Looks pretty cool, right? Let me tell you a few things I personally like about this project:
-It’s part of the awesome Vacant Sky series, but you don’t need to have played any to enjoy this one, because it’s a prequel! You play Dakura Maladorr, who, if you played the Contention trilogy you’ll know is historically kind of a big deal and quite infamous.
-The battle system is designed to be challenging and to eliminate repetitive grinding. Each battle is treated like a separate challenge and it’s imperative to get used to making the most of your party’s strengths.
-Each character’s personality and unique abilities tie into the gameplay, both in and out of battle. There is loads to explore in every map, and going back to earlier areas with new party members may yield new treasures as well as extra scenes that further explore the characters.
-Female characters who are rounded, flawed human beings, not eye candy or prizes. Also gay characters who are not defined solely by being gay but are just…characters…who happen to incidentally be gay.
-RAYNER’S MUSIC. Just…well, there’s a sampler on the kickstarter, also check out the soundtrack he did for Contention: http://vacantsky.bandcamp.com/album/vacant-sky-ost-sounds-of-contention
So, that’s why I’d like you to show a little support for our little game. If you can’t afford to pledge, which I can completely understand, then if you could at least give us a reblog or something, I’d really appreciate that. Thanks!
